Tesla Battery to power your home.
Yep, the future of living off-grid just got a little brighter.
CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, recently gave the official unveiling the Powerwall, a battery designed to power your home. The message came at a convention center powered completely by renewable battery power.
These are based on the same batteries in the Tesla electric cars. The 7kWh unit will ship for $3,000, while the 10kWh unit is a much better price per kWh at $3,500. They can store electricity from the grid or off-grid from solar and wind generators on site. If you lose power, the batteries will continue to power your home.
The batteries can mount on the wall and are supposed to begin shipping over the summer of 2015.
Musk refers to it as changing the “entire energy infrastructure of the world.”
